Overview

The DEIF energy management system acts as a plant-wide hybrid controller, coordinating solar PV, wind, battery energy storage (BESS), diesel/gas gensets and the utility grid from one platform. As a hybrid controller it runs fuel-saver, zero-genset, peak-shaving and grid-forming modes automatically — reducing diesel consumption and stabilising renewable-heavy microgrids. What is a hybrid controller?

A hybrid controller (also called an energy management system or microgrid controller) coordinates multiple power sources — solar PV, battery storage (BESS), diesel/gas gensets and the grid — so they operate as one plant. The DEIF hybrid controller decides in real time how much each source contributes to maximise renewables and minimise fuel burn.

How much fuel can a PV-diesel-BESS hybrid controller save?

Savings depend on solar sizing, load profile and storage, but well-designed diesel-PV-BESS hybrids commonly cut fuel use substantially by prioritising solar and battery power and running gensets only when needed. We size and model each site before quoting.

Can the EMS work both grid-connected and off-grid?

Yes. The DEIF EMS supports seamless island (grid-forming) and grid-connected (grid-following) operation, with automatic mode switching based on load, generation and tariff conditions.
